What Does the Cold Weather Mean for Your HVAC Unit?

We may not have it as rough as our friends up in Minnesota, Wisconsin, or the northeast, but our recent cold snap has brought frigid temperatures to the Metroplex. As you might expect, this has made our heating units top-of-mind for many area residents. During this cold weather, understanding how your unit works and maintaining the unit is very important. At Spencer Air Conditioning & Heating, we have received countless calls for overdue maintenance because the cold was on everyone’s mind. However, we strongly recommend keeping up with that maintenance before it’s too late. Here are a few tips: Replace the Filter. It’s one of the easiest ways to care for your HVAC unit, and often, one of the most overlooked. Typically, filters should be changed at least once every one to two months. However, for people with allergies, we recommend changing the air filters more frequently. Check Your Thermostat. You can buy any HVAC system for your home (we have some great options that last a long time), but that investment will not matter if your thermostat isn’t properly calibrated. If you don’t know if you have the right thermostat to work with your system, call us. Schedule Regular Maintenance. Sometimes, spending a little bit of money upfront can save you quite a bit of money in the future. You need a technician you can trust who will educate you on the benefits of maintenance and exactly how your system should be maintained. If you have any questions about maintenance on your HVAC, call Spencer Air Conditioning & Heating today at (972) 446- COOL (2665) or find out more at spencerairconditioning.com.
