With two short days until Christmas, you are probably busy planning your Christmas menu. For some families the food aspect is as important as any gift they will give or receive. We take it for granted that all North Texans are equally as excited about their upcoming feast. But that is simply not the case. That’s where Irving Cares, a 501c nonprofit organization comes into play. Their motto “Irving Cares is a hand up, not a handout for Irving residents in need” is never more evident than at the holidays.
Irving Cares feeds an feeds an average of 802 families monthly with a week’s worth of nutritious groceries. The average food pantry order weighs more than 80 pounds and has a retail value of more than $150. More than 44,000 residents – 20% of the City’s population – were touched by Irving Cares programs in the past year receiving help with food, rent, utilities, prescriptions, information and referrals, transportation and job-seeking services.
This holiday season the employees at Spencer Air Conditioning and Heating jumped in to lend a helping hand. Employees collected 63 pounds of food and $330 to donate to Irving Cares. You can join us in helping this terrific organization.
