Happy 55th Anniversary, Spencer Air Conditioning and Heating

Three in five companies will not make it to their second year anniversary. The odds of making it to ten years in business are even less. That is why we are so thankful to be celebrating 55 years in business serving North Texans. Spencer Air Conditioning and Heating began in Irving in 1960 by Harry Spencer. Mr. Spencer moved to Irving in 1947 after serving in WW II as an Army Airman. While co-piloting a B-17 bomber to England, Mr. Spencer and his crew crash-landed on the Greenland ice cap. He miraculously survived 89 days before being rescued and received one of the highest awards in the armed service for non-combat heroism, the Legion of Merit in 1943. Mr. Spencer was very involved in the community serving on both the city council and the school board. Spencer Air Conditioning and Heating operated as a family owned company for over 40 years until it was purchased by the current owners in 2001.
